Lesson 2 - How Microfibers Work

How Microfibers Work:
Microfiber is an ultra-fine yarn that is very strong,
and virtually lint-free. A single fiber is
approximately 1/20th the diameter of a strand of silk.
Since the fiber is wedge-shaped and not round like
cotton fibers, it grabs and holds the dust and soil
efficiently. Microfibers are tough on dirt, yet gentle
on the surface being cleaned.

Ordinary Cloth Fibers:
* Tend to push dirt and dust around
* Leave residue behind on the surface being cleaning
* Hold very little dirt due to the round structure of
the fiber
Microfiber Facts:
* A microfiber cloth holds 7 times its weight in liquid.
* Each fiber is 100 times finer than a human hair.
(this is the secret of microfibers' incredible
cleaning ability).
* Because of the wedge-shape, the open spaces between
fibers holds dust and dirt until it's washed away with
mild soap or detergent.
* The open spaces also allow large amounts of moisture
to be collected into the cloths making them very
absorbent.
* These same spaces allow for quicker drying time,
eliminating much of the bacterial growth found in slow
drying cloths.
* Using water helps emulsify soil making it easier for
the microfiber cloth to pick it up.
* The result is a clean, streak free surface.
