A Month of Hints for Your Cleaning Business

Keep a cleaning journal

James Nokes

Hi:

I'm James Nokes from The Cleaning Institute
Here is hint number eleven, I hope you enjoy it.

Hint Number Eleven

A cleaning journal is just what I call it. I don't think there is any formal name for the notebook you or your crew leader will keep for each building you clean. In it you will make notes about cleaning the building.

Have an agreed upon place to leave the journal so that your contact on the property will always have it on hand. Usually you will just leave it on their desk or in their drawer.

Here you can note problems and suggestions. Did your crew find a set of keys when they cleaned? This is the place to note the fact and maybe tape the keys to the page. And of course, your contact will place his remarks there too. A cleaning journal should never be the only regular contact between your company and the client but it is a good, simple aid to communications. And it leaves a permanent record so you can make sure that problems were followed up on.
