Inspecting and rating your buildings

Hi:

I'm James Nokes from The Cleaning Institute
Here is hint number thirteen, I hope you enjoy it.

Hint Number Thirteen

A monthly building inspection is the most powerful tool you have for keeping your cleaning standards high. Most of the power of a building inspection lies in just doing it every single month. But there are a few simple rules you can follow to make them as effective as possible:

  • dont use the inspection to embarrass your cleaners - if there is a problem talk to your cleaner privately and try to balance out any problems with his work with good things you can say

  • use a simple form to grade the account - use boxes you can check off so you won't have to do a lot of writing while you walk around

  • give more weight to restrooms, dining & food preparation areas, and floors

  • have a numeric score with 100 = perfect, 90 or above = A level work, 80 to 89 = B & 70 to 79 = C level work

  • bring last month's evaluation with you, look for improvement - if a score moves from 72 to 74 because the floors look better, praise the improvement of the floors to the people who did the work
