Maintaining Janitorial Equipment (My View)
This video covers how to maintain janitorial equipment and machinery and how to conserve supplies. One of the issues it deals with is the need for janitors to anticipate their need for supplies so that they aren't caught short. It also talks about the need to keep janitor's closets neat and clean. Management look in them on occasion if they aren't presentable it really does hurt our standing with the customer.
They cover many skills custodians need. Such things as: regularly taking spray bottles apart to clean them, how to properly clean dust mops -- this is very important but rarely done right, daily cleaning of manual and mechanical equipment, keeping wet mops in good shape, and how to change vacuum belts. All of these things are very basic skills but all to often janitors are not properly trained in how to do them.
Properly cleaned and maintained equipment lasts longer and will allow your cleaning staff to do a better job, quicker. Training your cleaners to properly maintain your equipment is one of the best investments you can make.
