Keeping an Eye on New Technology

Warning: This is an old article - the basic information is good, but the prices I quote here are out of date.

FYI Kaivac.com is a good site to visit whether you buy anything from them or not because they are very generous with their information. They have both articles written in-house and articles they have linked to from other sources such as: The Science of Cleaning by Cleaning Consulant and Author, Robert Kravitz.

Regular upright vac? No, it's a KaiVac!

I wrote this article using information on a case study for new technologies in the
CM/Cleaning & Maintenance Management E-magazine and from information from the Kaivac Company.

My purpose in writing this article is not to sell you anything from Kaivac or anyone else. Especially since I won't make a penny if you do buy something from Kaivac. The point is to give you an example of how new technology is changing the cleaning profession for the better.

 Case Study

Tony Miller, president, Jancoa Janitorial Services, a contact cleaning service that relies on creativity and innovation to overcome the biggest challenges of his industry: winning new customers and keeping existing ones.

The results speak for themselves, over the last five years, Jancoa has doubled its business while only losing two customers.

 What’s Jancoa’s Secret?

“All business is won or lost in the restroom,” said Miller. “As a contract cleaner, it really doesn't matter what else you do if the restrooms don't sparkle.”

So, when Miller saw a new invention that turned out spotlessly clean restrooms –– the KaiVac No-Touch Cleaning System –– he immediately took notice. The KaiVac is an all-in-one cleaning system that combines chemical injection, pressure washing and wet vacuuming into a single machine.

Using its chemical dispenser, employees spray cleaning solution onto restroom fixtures and walls, and then blast the soil to the floor with a high-pressure spray.

As a final step, they vacuum the floor dry, completely removing all soil and bacteria.

“Not only does the KaiVac reach areas that mops can't, but our employees don't have to touch any fixtures or surfaces,” said Miller. “Plus, dirty water gets vacuumed away, rather than just being moved around as with a conventional mop.”

“The Kaivac/Jancoa combination has achieved tremendous results in our facility,” said Franz Klaber, facility director, Cincinnati Financial Corp., a longtime Jancoa client. “We have visitors from around the globe … one claims that we literally have the cleanest restrooms in the world…others have said they thought they were in a hospital.”

Here's what one of these Kaivac beauties looks like
